It’s almost time for summer relaxation and vacations, but first, organizing your home is a must! Decluttering and organizing your home before the summer season will allow for more time to bask in the sun, enjoy your favorite summer treat, and hang out with friends and family. What could be better?
STEP 1: STORE ALL WINTER ITEMS
The highly-anticipated sunshine weather has arrived and the long, cold days are behind us (finally). It’s now time to store all winter belongings and make room for all things summer! Items such as coats, boots, gloves, etc. will need to be placed in a plastic bin and moved to a closet or garage. If you don’t have extra room in your garage, consider renting a self-storage unit from Easy Stop Storage!
STEP 2: DONATION AREA
Set aside an area of your home where you can place any items you wish to donate or sell. Go around your home and sift through your items such as winter attire and tools, toys, and gadgets. If you’ve found items that you no longer use or have outgrown, place them in the pile! This will help get rid of unnecessary items that may be taking up too much space and will help make room for a new pool float or summer toy.
STEP 3: INSPECT YOUR PANTRY & REFRIGERATOR
Take the time to clean and organize your fridge and pantry and throw out any expired or old food. Meal prepping is great for organization and will save you time, especially if you have children at home for summer break! As you stock your fridge and pantry with goodies, create designated areas for these items. Use baskets, plastic bins, etc. and label them to ensure everything stays in its place!
STEP 4: TACKLE THE TOYS
If you have children, you know all too well how quickly toys can take over your household. The key to keeping toys and gadgets organized is ensuring everything has a designated place. Utilize plastic bins and baskets throughout your home so your children can place everything back where it belongs.
STEP 5: CALENDAR EVERYTHING!
It can be overwhelming with the kids out of school and summer events starting. Use a calendar to help stay organized and on track for the summer season! We suggest color-coding!
